Project Overview

MYSA is an interactive story experience that blends visual storytelling, dialogue, and exploration into a single browser-based game. Rather than focusing on action or challenge, the experience encourages players to slow down, observe their surroundings, and gradually uncover the narrative through conversations and environmental details.

Built entirely with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, the project explores how web technologies can be used to create immersive interactive experiences. Every scene, transition, and interaction was designed to feel cohesive, creating an experience that sits somewhere between a game, an interactive website, and a digital storybook.

The emotional tone of MYSA is driven by atmosphere as much as dialogue. Lighting, color, typography, environmental details, and pacing all work together to create a quiet, reflective world that encourages curiosity.

Rather than presenting exposition directly, the story unfolds gradually through exploration and conversation. Players are invited to interpret events themselves, discovering meaning through subtle visual cues and carefully paced interactions that reward observation instead of speed.

The game's progression is centered around interactive dialogue, scene transitions, and player exploration. JavaScript was used to manage conversations, trigger story events, and create responsive interactions that allow the narrative to unfold naturally as players move through each environment.

Instead of relying on traditional gameplay systems, the experience emphasizes pacing, immersion, and narrative flow. Small interactions and carefully timed transitions help guide the player through the story while maintaining a sense of agency and discovery.

The interface was designed to remain minimal and unobtrusive so the story remained the primary focus. Dialogue boxes, navigation elements, and interactive prompts were carefully integrated into each scene to support readability without distracting from the artwork or atmosphere.

Attention was given to typography, spacing, animation, and transitions, creating an interface that feels like a natural extension of the world rather than a traditional game HUD.

Creating MYSA allowed me to explore interactive storytelling through web technologies while combining programming, visual design, writing, and user experience into a single project. Developing the experience required balancing narrative pacing with technical implementation, ensuring each interaction felt meaningful while remaining intuitive to navigate.

The project strengthened my frontend development skills while demonstrating how HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can be used beyond conventional websites to create immersive, story-driven interactive experiences.
